SoFi CEO Resigns Amidst Sexual Harassment Allegations

September 13, 2017

The CEO of personal finance company Social Finance Inc. has resigned after allegations of sexual harassment have surfaced. In a statement on Monday announcing his decision, Mike Cagney stated, "The combination of HR-related litigation and negative press have become a distraction from the company’s core mission." A lawsuit was filed in August by a former employee who alleged he was fired after reporting the sexual harassment of his female coworkers. A spokesperson for the company stated that the allegations had been investigated internally and were "found to have no merit."
