An 82-year-old, Whitefish woman died this past week after her car crossed over the center line and collided with a dump truck in the Flathead Valley.
The automobile accident occurred at 4 p.m. near the intersection of Dillon Road and 2 1/2 miles east of U.S. 93. According to the Montana Highway Patrol, there were no passengers in the woman's car and the roads were snow-covered and icy. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene.
The driver of the dump truck, who was uninjured, was unable to avoid the oncoming car. Both vehicles went off the road following the collision.
Two other cars crashed while trying to avoid the car accident wreckage. Some occupants were hospitalized with unknown injuries.
