One man is dead and another is in critical condition after a head-on car accident Friday morning on Highway 93 near Victor.
According to the Montana Highway Patrol, a truck crossed the center line about three miles south of Victor and hit a car head-on. A third car was sideswiped as part of the car accident, but the female driver was not injured.
The driver of the truck died at the scene of the auto accident. The driver of the other car was seriously injured and was taken by ambulance to the Trauma Center at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula. Their names aren’t being released until family members are notified.
Authorities said it’s too early to tell the cause of the accident, but law enforcement officers had seen an uptick in car and truck accidents because of a new layer light snow that fell on an underlying layer of slush.
The car accident blocked northbound traffic for about an hour before the accident scene was cleared.
