According to the Billings Gazette, a head-on accident between two cars killed three people in Fergus County.
Two of the car crash victims, Chelsea R. Simpson, 29, and Gage F. Hall, 24, both of Roundup, Montana, have been identified. Investigators had not yet identified the third car accident victim.
The automobile accident was reported to have occurred on U.S. Highway 87 at mile marker 37, roughly 8 miles south of Grass Range in Montana. One of the car accident victims was driving an SUV southbound and tried to pass another SUV before she crashed almost directly head-on with a northbound car, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.
One of the cars involved in the car accident ended up in the southbound lane facing north after the car crash. The other vehicle involved in the car accident came to a stop just off the shoulder of the roadway in the east ditch, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.
Responders arrived to find Simpson and Hall dead and the third victim injured and in need of extrication. St. Vincent Healthcare Mercy Flight responded to the scene if the car accident, but the unidentified male died shortly after he was removed from his vehicle and before he could be loaded onto the helicopter, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.
No one in either car was wearing a seat belt according to the Montana Highway Patrol report that detailed the car accident. Drugs, alcohol and speed had not been ruled out as factors contributing to the car accident, but initial information suggested at least one of the vehicles was traveling between 60 and 70 mph.
Hall was initially said to be from Billings, Montana, because of information on his Montana ID, but investigators have since determined he was living in Roundup, Montana. There were no other injuries stemming from the car accident, and no one else was in either car at the time of the crash.
